ballistic-helmet

The boltfree ballistic helmets have been on the scene for a while now. Ballistic helmets have been a part of modern day warfare for several decades. Over the years, different manufacturers have tried to find new ways to create less burdensome versions of ballistic helmets. Boltfree helmets are a product of some of these attempts.

Traditional bolted helmets are known to cause secondary impact injury on wearers upon hit from fast moving projectile. Boltfree ballistic helmets are created to reduce the risk of additional injury caused by bolted helmets. If you are looking to purchase a ballistic helmet, a boltfree helmet is a great pick! However, here are some things that you should know before making the purchase.

Pros:

  • Bolt-free helmets gives all-round protection from head injuries as helmet bolts increase the risk of injuries due to vibrations produced by direct impact of bullet on helmet.
  • Bolt-free helmets eliminate the propensity for fatal injuries. This is because the bolts mounted on the outer shell of the helmet often act as lethal secondary fragments. This ends up endangering the soldiers who are wearing it. So, to boost the soldier’s confidence, it should be ensured that the ideal ballistic helmet must be free from bolts. This provides a uniform protection all around the outers of the helmet shell.
  • Bolt-free helmets provide enhanced comfort and protection against ballistic attacks.
  • It is available in PASGT and ACH configurations.
  • It often comes with a 3-point harness system which helps the helmet to stay fit and spacious.

Cons:

  • Bolt-free ballistic helmets are often very expensive to purchase. Hence, it is not very accessible to individual users.
  • Although they are light-weighted, bolt-free helmets can still cause fatigue to the wearers when worn for a very long time.
